Government (FLAG) pilot program is to provide guidance
and mentorship to junior high, high school and college students
throughout the nation, as well as provide college scholarships
annually to build future leaders in America's government.

Blacks In Government® (BIG) Nationwide Stepping-for-Health
Project Health Initiatives Program promotes efforts
to educate, improve, and address health care concerns affecting
African Americans, and generate greater interest in the
health status of African Americans. The program aims to
motivate BIG members into better health, with a goal of
achieving one million steps nationwide. The goal is for
each participant to step at least 500,000 steps annually,
with a minimum of 50,000 steps. This is an individual based
participation program and open to all BIG members. The program
has incentives to participants and an online registration
is available if you wish to participate. To enroll in the
program, please complete the application and e-mail it to
Dr. Hezekiah Braxton at hezekiah.braxton@faa.gov,

are conducting a computer competition for youth in grades
nine through twelve. The competition theme is, "Beating

Young professionals in Charge (YPIC) invites Region
XI to their networking meet and greet!
Join YPIC network at a meet and greet networking fun
night, at JIN (2017 14th Street NW), from 6 – 8 p.m.
Wednesday February 23rd, 2011.
YPIC networking is a circle of younger BIG members banding
together to organize around issues of mutual concern
and interests of the younger professional. Information
such as, being in charge of their own careers, expressing
entrepreneurial ideas, volunteers to participate in
community service activities collectively and individually,
serving as mentors to youths, and to assist BIG in understanding
the younger professionals needs, wants and desires,
and to come together to socialize, network and seek
the guidance of BIG leadership as mentors.
Region XI meets with YPIC to foster increased BIG Membership,
to hear YPIC’s interest, utilize their talents and skills
in information technology, Facebook, and WIKI, socialize
and network, and to establish relationship venues with
people of all races on the U street, Washington DC,
corridor.

In support of our Annual Mae Napier Scholarship Holiday
Gala, we are soliciting support from each chapter
by way of gift cards and holiday baskets. Would you
be so kind and consider donating gift cards or holiday
baskets for our door and raffle prizes. You can donate
gifts cards in any denomination (e.g. Starbucks, Dunkin
Donuts, Gas cards, etc.). We offer the following suggestions
for holiday baskets (e.g. Spirit Filled, Body and
Bath, Holiday Fruit and Cheeses, Nuts, etc). We ask
that you please consider unisex gift or gifts for
women or men. We will begin collecting donations at
the September, October and November Council meetings.
Please make monetary donations payable to: RXIC.
A block of rooms are reserved at the Holiday Inn –
7200 Hanover Drive, Greenbelt, MD 20770 for Saturday,
December 4th. The guest rate is $89.00 per night plus
taxes. The hotel is directly next door to the conference
facility. Guest reservations are being accepted under
