Announcements/We need your help Regional Workplan Activity #10- Directors Awareness Breakfast/BrunchThe Directors Awareness Breakfast/Brunch is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Blacks In Government Region VIII in order to gain support from Directors for the membership. The Boulder County Chapter has agreed to help organize this committee. We need one member to serve on this committee Voluntary Request for 27th National Training Conference
Planning is
going well for the 2005 NTC and now we need your assistance. If you are
interested in working on one of the following committees during the training
conference, 1-5 August 2005, please contact the respective chairs indicating
your availability. Please coordinate with the desired chair by Although Region IV is hosting, it will take the entire national organization to execute a National Training Conference. I appreciate your tireless efforts and support in making this conference yet another success.
NTC 2005 Region VIII Hospitality RoomThe Region VIII Hospitality Room at the NTC will be available June 30 -August 2. Mr. Wilford Buggs, Boulder County Chapter, has agreed to coordinate this function. Please discuss with your chapters ASAP to determine if your chapter will donate any money and how much for this event. Wilford asks that any monies donated be in the form of cash. I ask that you move on this quickly in order to alleviate a lengthy discussion on this subject at the July Regional meeting. Blacks In Government (BIG) President Guest On Tony Brown's JournalNational Blacks In Government President, Darlene Young, recently taped an appearance on Tony Brown's Journal. Ms. Young along with Ms. Sharon Pinnock, Director of Membership and Organizations for the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO discussed the potential impact of federal pay-for-performance initiative on the Black community. The segment (#2815C1) titled "Is Federal Policy Threatening The Black Middle Class?" airs 5/25 - 5/26 on your local PBS (www.PBS.org) station (check listings for time). Region VIII membership has been asked to assist with hosting The Barber Cutt-Off
with its annual fundraiser benefit. This event will feature live music,
art, comedy, backgammon, bid whist, dominos tournaments, premium drinks, and a
lavish buffet every Sunday in June from 6pm-9pm at the Parkside Mansion
located at 1859 York Street in Denver. Live entertainment will begin at 9pm
and 11pm each night. This event is co-sponsored by Smoothe Jazz 104.3, Urban
Spectrum, and Altimate Limo. Region VIII is asked to help greet guest as they
arrive and in return, we will be allowed to setup one of the hospitality
suites as a BIG Membership Information room.

be able to attend.

Please don’t let this opportunity pass without publicizing your chapter, region, home-based business, or local business in your area in this dynamic resource marketing tool. Please note that this souvenir booklet cannot be successful without your advertisements. Therefore, I encourage all chapters and regions to support our national training conference, as well as encourage businesses to purchase an ad to be published in the 2005 National Training Conference Souvenir Booklet of Blacks In Government.
