Mission

The Lower Mississippi River Chapter (LMRC) of Blacks In Government is committed to promoting equality, excellence, opportunity, and a non-discriminatory environment.  LMRC encourages our members to actively participate in programs that will enhance productivity and promote self-development.   

KEY GOALS

1.      Increase the awareness and visibility of LMRC throughout the New Orleans District as an employee support group, professional development organization, community resource, and networking mechanism.  

2.      Increase the LMRC membership roles to include representation from all levels of the New Orleans District’s family. 

3.      Improve the lines of communication to inform, educate, and assist the members of the LMRC and the New Orleans District family, of the major governmental changes affecting jobs, career opportunities and the general work environment.

4.      Establish working relations with the New Orleans District’s Executive committee, managers and supervisors, to participate on committee's and work groups engaged in decision-making activities that are impacting career and quality of life issues affecting the US Army Corps of Engineers African-American employees.
