The Greater Dayton Chapter, Blacks in Government (BIG) is a member of Region V,
Great Lakes Mid-West Region Council.
History The inception of the Greater Dayton Chapter began in 1980. On November 27, 1984 Wright-Patterson Air Force Base approved the Greater Dayton Chapter as a private organization. As an approved private organization, the Chapter functions under the principle to maintain professionalism, skills, and knowledge, as well as sustaining honor for cultural heritage. The membership of the Chapter recognizes this governing principle; that the individual needs or aspiration of one can become the "common" towards the betterment of all. Achieving chapter principles, Greater Dayton renders support to facilitate individuals' success thus collectively strengthening the whole in integrity, equality in the workplace, and community investments. Mission To promote excellence in government through the practice and advocacy of equality of opportunity, professional development, empowerment and advancement for African Americans and others dedicated to justice and equality in the workplace and local community investments. Membership Our membership is open to all local, state and federal government employees. Dues are $300 one-time payment for Life Membership. Annual dues are $55 for Regular Members, $45 for Associate Members and $20 for Life Members. Meetings The Greater Dayton Chapter monthly membership meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at Building 1225 (Library [Old NCO Club]) Conference Room A, Kitty Hawk Area C, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH 45433.
