Benjamin Banneker Chapter
2001 AWARDS PROGRAM
The Benjamin Banneker Chapter (BBC) of Blacks In Government (BIG) held its 2001 Annual Awards Program, on July 24, 2001, at the General Services Administration Central Office Building in downtown Washington, DC.
Each year the Benjamin Banneker Chapter endeavors to recognize chapter members, GSA Family members, and individual(s) and group(s) from the local community for their unselfish devotion and distinguished contributions to the chapter and the promotion of BIG's goals and objectives.
This year, chapter awards were presented in two major categories: "Presidential Excellence" and, "Chapter Involvement" awards.
The "Presidential Excellence Award" was presented to Ms. Claire Cashwell , for her notable leadership and managerial contributions, as 2000 NTC Co-Chair, to the success of BIG's 2000 National Training Conference.
The "Chapter Involvement Award" was presented to Mr. R. Steward Randall for his years of continuing dedication, devotion and service to the Benjamin Banneker Chapter.
The Annual Awards Program also recognized distinguished members of the GSA Family for their noteworthy contributions in support of chapter activities, events and programs promoting "Diversity" and "Equal Employment" throughout the General Services Administration.
Noteworthy, guests and recipients at this years Awards Program included Mr. Stephen Perry, Administrator, GSA; Mr. Thurman Davis, Deputy Administrator, GSA, Ms. Madeline Caliendo, Associate Administrator for the Office of Civil Rights, Award Recipient, and Ms. Toni Lewis-Hazelwood, 2001 Award Recipient.
Special "Apple Awards of Appreciation" were presented to a number of chapter members by Ms. Sanya H. Ham, President, Benjamin Banneker Chapter for their contributions and services to the chapter.
Once again, BBC offers congratulations to all recipients of 2001 BBC Chapter Awards. We extend our special thanks to the distinguished guests, GSA family members and visitors, who set aside time from their busy schedules to attend our Annual Awards Program.
