Linda worked for the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center (SSC) in Natick, MA from 1989 to 2002. After her tenure at Natick, both Linda and her husband, David Villar, relocated to the U.S. Army Field Support Command in Fort Stewart, GA. While at Fort Stewart, GA she was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, where she was killed by mortar attack on June 3, 2005. Linda was scheduled to come home July 13, 2005 after serving as a Logistics Management Specialist and Acting Chief of the Third Infantry Division Logistics Support Element.Linda was a Life Member of the Middlesex County Chapter of Blacks In Government (BIG), Region I. In this organization, she dutifully served as Treasurer, Chair, Fundraising Committee and a member of the Membership Committee. She also served as the chapter representative on the BIG Regional Council (New Eng-land). Linda also achieved numerous awards which included the 1999 SSC Customer Focus Award, 1999 SSC Diversity Award, three-time recipient of the Greater Boston Federal Executive Boards Support Personnel Award and was nominated for the 2000 Blacks In Government Regional Prestige Award. |
