About Blacks In Government

Department of Labor Chapter

Blacks In Government Department of Labor Chapter (BIG-DOL) was established in 1979. BIG-DOL, an award-winning chapter in Region XI (Washington, DC Metropolitan Area) of the National Organization of BIG, provides programs and services that promote BIG’s mission of equity, excellence, and opportunity through employee advocacy, professional development, and employment of African Americans as well as enhance the community.

The Chapter membership consists of current and retired employees of the U. S. Department of Labor in the Washington, District of Columbia Metropolitan Area as well as other persons who promote the goals and objectives of BIG.

The Chapter’s motto: “BIG-DOL, An Organization on the MOVE” most assuredly describes its 40 years of service to BIG and the African-American community. BIG-DOL joins with other great multi-dimensional organizations, such as alumni associations, fraternities/sororities, government agencies, local businesses, and other BIG Chapters in making positive impacts on the educational, social, cultural, physical, and mental well-being of the citizenry.
